Genevieve Tremblay is a digital and immersive artist, educator, community leader and catalyst working across disciplines and sectors to bring vision and clarity to innovative cultural initiatives. Her generative work as a digital, interactive and immersive media artist is focused on environmental themes. Her curatorial programs at the intersection of arts, science and technology have been funded through grants from Bellevue Arts Program, 4Culture, The Rockefeller and Benton Foundations, Helen R. Whiteley Foundation, Oregon Arts Commission, The Ford Foundation, Stillman Drake Fund, Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation, Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, UCSC Cultura and the US Embassy, Chile. She is a member of SOIL Gallery in Seattle.
She is Co-Founder/US Executive Director of ASKXXI: Arts + Science Knowledge Building and Sharing in XXI Century, an international arts + science diplomacy program fostering US- Chile collaboration in arts, emerging digital/virtual technologies and the ecological sciences. The interhemispheric program now provides a collaborative platform for 21st Century artists, technologists, scientists and communicators working on critical environmental challenges.
She is a GIX mentor at the Bellevue based Global Innovation Exchange, working with students across the disciplines of engineering, business, design and computer science pursuing their Master of Science in Technology Innovation (MSTI) and is the co-creator of the xTech + Impact Summit, hosted at GIX and sponsored by The Evans School for Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington. She is part of a global community as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEEs), modeling inspiring digital, social and immersive technologies (VR, AR, XR) that amplify learning, creativity, engagement and virtual collaboration. In her capacity as a Fulbright Specialist Roster Candidate, she is actively cultivating partnerships with foreign host institutions abroad to develop global arts/culture, emerging technology and education advancement initiatives.
Since moving to Bellevue in 2002, she served full tenures as Bellevue Arts Commissioner and Curatorial and Community Representative on the Port of Seattle Commission’s Arts Oversight Committee, providing vision and strategy to regional public art and urban planning efforts, In 2009, with a focus on Arts Advocacy and Cultural Development, she co-led a multidisciplinary team in the development of an innovative Real Estate Strategy and Analysis for BRINC: The Bel-Red Incubator, a concept project for a creative tech incubator and live/work space targeted toward the growing creative communities and knowledge-based industries on the Eastside.
Her published research, Fostering A Community of Innovation at the Intersection of Art + Technology in the Pacific Northwest, brought together key stakeholders in the region to inform this project and spark next steps to support this community. She continues to work with leaders to develop culturally focused real estate assets that generate public benefit and economic value.
Genevieve is currently a founding Board Member of Indigo Arts Alliance, an Arts Residency and Incubator in Portland, Maine committed to the artistic development of citizens of color. Genevieve is also a founding Board Member of Third Place Technologies, a non-profit research and development organization with the mission of creating innovative technologies that foster community empowerment and well-being.
